Late Summer

8x8 inches - acrylic on canvas

I say it every year, but I can't believe how quickly the summer goes! Under this painting is a failed cat painting.  I was so frustrated trying to make the cat work. It just wasn't happening today. It felt good to finally let it go and transform the canvas into something completely different.

Just For Now

8x8 inches - Acrylic on canvas panel

We're having some remodeling done in the house, so today I stood at the washing machine and used it as my painting desk... while it was running.  Honestly it didn't seem that bad.  I might set up there again. :P

5x7 inches - acrylic on canvas panel

Our family goes to Chipotle... a LOT.  A couple weeks ago there was a brief break from the heat so we sat outside. I snapped a photo of this little guy hanging out waiting for rice to fall.  I'd like to do more like this. Like we needed an excuse to go back to Chipotle... :)

Our Days

4x5 inches - acrylic on canvas panel

I didn't intend to totally abandon my blog, but unfortunately it appears that has been the case for the past couple months.  I've still been painting! These days I have been posting more often to instagram because I seem to get a little more traffic there (Feel free to follow me @sbauerart).  I'll try to be be better about posting here too.

Last Night

5x7 inches- acrylic on canvas panel

The big move from Massachusetts to Ohio is finally complete and now we're in our new house.  We survived the 5 weeks in a hotel!  I think it's made me appreciate the house more.  It's definitely more enjoyable to paint here than in a hotel room. :)

Pleasant Sea

8x10 inches - acrylic on canvas panel

It seems like I haven't painted in so long.  We are in the process of moving from Massachusetts to Ohio, and with everything going on it was just hard to paint.  Whenever I had a free moment, I opted for a nap!

Now we are in an extended stay hotel until we are able to close on our new house in Ohio. Today while the baby was sleeping I decided I'd finally try to paint since I brought some of my paints and brushes to our hotel.  I felt afraid as I was getting started with the paint.  I was worried it wouldn't go well at all with the amount of time that had passed, but it went better than I expected, and I felt better than I've felt since this crazy relocation process began!

Hachiya Persimmon

5x7 inches - acrylic on canvas panel

Now that we're done traveling for the holidays I'm trying to get back into a regular painting routine. I wasn't aware there were different varieties of persimmons until I thought this one looked a little different. No matter what kind, they always seem pretty to me.
